![]() ![]() ![]() You can use needle-nose pliers, but I usually make a tool out of a small diameter hardwood dowel with a slot cut into the end to allow the 'fork' to pass through. Gently press the wire into the 'fork' of the connector's contact. Now, take the second wire of the ribbon cable and cross it over to the first connector position. Be careful not to expose any of the conductors. Using a single-edged razor blade or a knife with a thin, sharp blade, split apart each of the individual wires at the end of the cable for a length of 1 to 1.5 centimeters. Remove the connector (carefully) and cut off the end of your cable taking special care that the cut is perpendicular to the cable. It's possible to make what you have work, but I'll warn you from experience it's tedious and time consuming.
